This is why they have developed languages that are easier for users? to organize, create, and understand. Assembly is understood at a level too low for people to be programming in now. Here'd my question. WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD YOU WRITE AN OS IN JAVA??? Java runs in an interpreter, it cannot be compiled to a binary that is understood like assembly.

The x64 architecture is designed for backwards compatibility with x86, making it more of an extension of x86 than a separate architecture. Who cares how fast it loads, I mean when you know you're going to spend 8+ hours operating the thing, then 7 seconds is nothing to get excited about. Where it does matter, is when you're so addicted to an internet "app" and think about going online? when you wake up at 3am. Thinking about booting Windows can make you stay in bed.

This is more? of a sleek, slim os which is not meant for developers (at the moment), it is for people who just turn on their laptop to just surf the web. People have to understand what this is useful for. Pointing out that 'it's not useful without internet' is a bad argument. It's actually a pretty good OS, if I had a decent internet connection (ie. could stream music) I'd probably use this. My initial reaction was the same as a lot of people's, but I think that this is more of an OS for the future, as internet connection becomes faster and more ubiquitous. It's also not? for developers, but maybe one day it will be.

This is exactly right. The virus/worm/malware is saved on the? hard drive, which stores information even when the computer is turned off (see my video on hard drives and RAM on YouTube for more details on this). The virus gets included in what the "baby learns" and continues to be a problem.

@Filmpjestoaster Windows generally has lots of special offers for academic use and ect. That makes it significantly cheaper. Plus the $30 is meant to be for upgrading only from leopard. Though I think I read you can use it like a full install but then your probably breaking the license agreement and might as well compare it to stealing Windows? 7.

It´s just a computer, it does not have to look like a sculpture. Better support - Yeah, but isn´t a mac best computer in the world and never crashes or never has viruses? A tad more expensive? A tad is not 300-400, it´s more like 100-150. And yes, you? do ``need´´ a antivirus, but there is always Avast.

@GoldCheeze That may be so. That means a Mac is only a tad bit more expensive ($300-$400) than the PC. However, you're getting a better operating system, a better design, better support and fewer worries. You won't even need antivirus like you will for that PC. Also, 4GB more RAM is not very expensive anyway. You still get a better purchase with a Mac. I've weighed it? all myself before.

@GoldCheeze When talking about premium computers, I mean machines over the $1,000 price range. I'm talking Alienware, Apple and other premium computers. It's people who want? to buy a nice computer, having saved their money. They want to make a good investment. When you compare prices of premium computers, Apple isn't all that much more expensive than your other premium Windows PC computers. Of course, Apple does sell the mac-mini. But, that's certainly no high-end gaming computer.

@GoldCheeze Well, as far as cost goes, sure, you can find a lot of Windows based computers for under $1,000, because those lower end machines appeal to the cost conscious buyer. I'm not? going to put down those machines, because there are people who are perfectly happy with them. But, if you're talking premium computers and you want the best, the Mac is the way to go. Also, you're not going to find equivalent Mac hardware for under $1,000. That's a total myth.

@GoldCheeze The argument you're now proposing is that Apple should allow their operating system to run on all hardware. However, an operating system made for the same company's hardware is a far more stable environment. And, that's why Macs are more stable than Windows PCs. When I wanted to play Tombraider: Underworld, I just loaded up Windows XP on Boot Camp. So, Macs do everything PCs can do, and they do it better in my opinion.

@GoldCheeze If that's true, then tell that to Microsoft. They made the "complete" (i.e. gave you all the? levels) Tombraider: Underworld game ONLY for the Xbox, and left the PC in the dust with an incomplete Tombraider: Underworld. It's obvious software companies are more behind the gaming consoles than they are the PC for gaming. And, it wouldn't be a surprise if it gets worse and worse. Also, you are wrong. Macs can run Windows in Boot camp and can play any PC game you can play. Macs are best.
