@ThugCologne They produce a lot yes, but in comparisson to the UK they produce very little.? I've seen some of the US documentaries and have to say they didn't impress me, as a lot of their knowledge was either innacurate of biased (not saying that British ones arn't either, but the US ones were to my eyes essentially propoganda). Never had a chance to see German documentaries, though i can understand why they don't like ww1 + ww2.
By: ThugCologne. on 06 Feb 12, 17:29:13
@TRUExSIGHTS right guys, i have now more than 20 answers that this isn't a US documentary :D ...but you're wrong, too, Americans produce loads of Docs but mostly TV channels like the military channel or discovery or like that and therefore the quality of many of these docs are very bad... Germans watch also much documentaries but sadly they don't like WW1 and WW2 Documentaries, so there are not many docs about it... so i am thankfull for every good piece of ww1/ww2? documentary ;)

Ive only watched 5 minutes of these "20th century battlefields" and these are by far my favorate!! The tactics and strategies? are so clearly explained with great overhead visuals, and explained better than any other war documentary show ive ever seen! Id say 20th century battlefields is now my favorate war explaining show!
By: TRUExSIGHTS. on 05 Feb 12, 23:07:10
@ThugCologne These are British btw mate (as they were produced by the BBC - British Broadcasting Company) and have British presenters (as you can tell from their accents). America on the whole doesn't produce many documentaries, for some reason they arn't appealing to the audience on? tv, whereas in Britain we love loads of documentaries. Must just be a cultural difference leading to the disparency in quality between both nations documentaries.

@evildeathmonkey1 totally agree with you m8 British adopted news ways of fighting such as the creeping barrage and Rawlinson's 'bite and hold' technique during the latter period of the war? combating Ludendorff's spring offensive. I am curious to know about what you think about Haig and his role? during the war and do u think that the war was worth the sacrifice made by allied soldiers?
By: Noodles37UK. on 28 Jan 12, 18:18:41
@ThugCologne? A lot of them are way too noisy, like Battlefront. So much audio clutter lol Laborious trying to learn.
By: TheHarViC2000. on 28 Jan 12, 08:39:58
@ThugCologne i think its british?

@IndividualParties Smh.. ?
By: IndividualParties. on 26 Jan 12, 20:04:30
@evildeathmonkey1 False, even the brits that made this documentary disagree with you? bro.
By: evildeathmonkey1. on 26 Jan 12, 18:34:09
@IndividualParties That is? is only referring to their potential, the U.S. COULD have made a huge difference, but actually came to late to be of much influence.
By: evildeathmonkey1. on 26 Jan 12, 18:21:22
@CyrustheConqueror That's right, also the German homefront got? fed up with the war, because of food and essential supply shortages. The British naval blockade was mainly the reason for this. The Germans soldier felt betrayed over this, they called it(I think) the november betrayal. And of course the French and British had begun to use tanks and much more efficient tactics, using all elements: armour, infantry, air-power and artillery tightly together in attacks.
By: CyrustheConqueror. on 24 Jan 12, 21:12:04
@IndividualParties the U.S role didn't play that big of a factor in the allies winning the war. American forces DID boost the morale of the British and French troops in the trenches. But the American forces at this time were just like the BEF in 1914 only 150,000 strong. They lacked discipline and leadership and weren't an efficient fighting force. The British mainly won the war in the end as they? had adapted and learnt from the horrors of the Somme and other battles. They adapted to condition

@wydrozwierz1981 "We must strike at the earliest moment before the Americans can throw strong forces into the scale. We must? beat the British." Erich Ludendorff
By: wydrozwierz1981. on 24 Jan 12, 06:58:59
@IndividualParties as it was said american troops were untrained cannon fodder armed with obsolete weapons. That force would make no difference if german battle-hardened troops from the eastern front would went into action. But as we know german high command was forced to accept peace treaty ASAP and withdrawl their troops into Germany to prevent civil war. In opposite way the world would witness "dunquirk mega rush" discovery two decades earlier. Lucky? them :]

@ThugCologne are you kidding? the british documentaries? are obsessed with britain.
By: DeWellstein. on 26 Dec 11, 20:11:39
@ThugCologne well? it isn't an American documentary, it's a British documentary. but you're right, this documentary is amazing :)

@martynrobin121 "...the balance? of power had swung in favor? of the Germans. But if the Germans were to win this war, they had to make their move BEFORE the Americans became fully operational. " learn history my friend, nice try.
By: martynrobin121. on 17 Dec 11, 14:14:03
@IndividualParties The US arrived in 1918, When the last desperate attempt by Germany to break the Allies had ended in disaster. The Germans were going into mutiny and the Allies on the advance. Also the Ottoman Empire had defeated and the Austro-Hungary wanted peace they were desperate. Its like if the British arrived in World war after the barttle of the bulge, And saying they won the war or played a key role. Italy played a bigger? role during the great war, Learn history my friend.
By: IndividualParties. on 16 Dec 11, 23:47:18
@martynrobin121 I already know the history bro, the U.S. shows up, next thing you know,? the war is over, lol.
By: IndividualParties. on 16 Dec 11, 23:44:03
Even your own brits admit it? in this documentary, you LEARN HISTORY: "...the balance of power had swung in favor of the Germans. But if the Germans were to win this war, they had to make their move BEFORE the Americans became fully operational. " That's in your own documentary. Keep trying to deflate the U.S. role.
By: martynrobin121. on 16 Dec 11, 15:17:03
@IndividualParties LEARN HISTORY- During the Great war, Germany was attacking America, Early as 1915. Yet your rabble only arrived 2 see the last few weeks of the war 1918, Most of your Forces arrived for the Victory parade. During WW2 the Axis were taking over Asia,Africa,Europe and the U.S done nothing till Phillipines disaster, Hitler had 2 force 2? fight, otherwise you would has sly & corrupt as usual and got others 2 do your fighting. At least Britain sents forces 2 protect 1/4 of the world
By: martynrobin121. on 16 Dec 11, 15:10:47
@IndividualParties Typical America idiot who knows nothing, Who was begging the US during the Great war? I seem to remember the war started 1914, Yet US forces arrived few month before the war ended. The U.S got involved due the fact for years German attacked your country and people 1915+ Americans easy targets. The U.S only got involved? in WW2 because of Pearl Harbour & Phillipines, The U.S just sat and watched as Europe,Africa,Asia was been invaded by the Axis powers, Germans walk all over YOU
By: IndividualParties. on 16 Dec 11, 00:01:22
@martynrobin121 The fact that the United States has to come and help win European wars is the joke. Americans died by the thousands in those? wars. It's funny how Europe begs for U.S. help, but then after it's all over "oh we had it under control, no biggy.." lol, yeah, keep dreaming. I think the smug brits should be a little more appreciative of the fact that they aren't prancing around in lederhosen these days. At least not all brits are smug, just the internet keyboard historian brits.

The scale of war in the 20th century was greater than previous centuries but a recent book shows there have been fewer wars and fewer deaths due to war from 1900-present than in previous ages. Statistically speaking, it's actually a safer world now than in anytime in human? history.
