@HumaneAnon actually, from my point of view, this video's pretty spot on, I've been in all three, Public, Private and Homeschool, and while not all public-schooled kids think this way, a good majority do, as well as their parents. I find this video says more about the misconception homeschoolers have against how? public/private school kids think. The lack of critical thinking and the negative perspective warping is apparent. You just gave more evidence supporting so much of the stereotype. Way to go >_

@RedShirtDavid Most parents are more invested in their children's education than any other adult would be (whether their child is in home or public school). I have yet to meet a parent who? wasn't monitoring their child's progress in homeschooling, even when they are not required by law to be 'supervised' by outside forces.

@RedShirtDavid I know many brilliant people who didn't graduate from public school and are quite capable of teaching their children. Additionally, I arrange for others to mentor my sons when there was a subject I was not capable or interested? in teaching.

@RedShirtDavid Also, sorry to reply so many times, there are MANY resources available for homeschoolers who don't have the specific training to teach every subject: online, video instruction, sharing groups (co-ops), BOOKS (gasp, who ever heard of learning something from a book?). You? just have to be diligent enough to seek them out, and if the state is being responsible in its requirements for homeschoolers, then homeschoolers will seek them out.

Often times we think the brainwashing on the part of public schools in non-existant when in reality you're getting 'brainwashed' just as much in the classroom that you are in your home. just sayin. The only difference would be the difference in content of the brainwashing (if that's the term we're going with).

@cinnamonkitties You're incorrect. In Missouri, as well as other states, if you've never enrolled your child in school there's no oversight. No standardized tests, nobody to check on your child's progress, nothing. Also, how is a parent that didn't graduate going to teach something they do not know? I had 2 years electronics training through school. My dad is a meat cutter. How is he going to teach me? My son goes to? school, it's FAR from perfect, but he'll be stronger in the real world.

@RedShirtDavid Sure, man, show me some correct facts. I'm open. I don't know about the "vast minority"; are you speaking from anecdotal experience or can you cite some statistics?? Yeah, I agree with you that there should be some regulations for homeschooling, and from what I've heard, most states have them. Even if the parent didn't graduate, usually the kid is required to take some standardized tests.

(#3) I was beyond shy with anyone who was under the age of 40. (#2) Man, did we have awesome lives! Instead of reading about the Colonial Times, we actually went? to Colonial Williamsburg, dressed up and did everything colonial kids would do on an average day! Not something you forget easily! For science, we went to science centers and I rode on a hover chair when I was 10! (#1) We rarely got to do school in our pj's. :( Even so, you poor, poor "regular" schoolers.

I was homeschooled growing up and I was (#7) pretty sheltered; (#6) my dad was the preacher at the church across the street from my house but even so, I was only there about maybe 3 days a week and only two of them were for actually doing "churchy" stuff; (#5) We did school... alot of school. And thats probably the reason I started? going to college my sophmore year of highschool... (#4) Yeah, I didn't have many friends... Town of 2000, not easy being the only homeschoolers, we got teased alot.
